In this trial, we hope to find out how and whether the herbivorous insect can feel presence of a predator via plant traits. We mix and match predators, plants and herbivores in various time sequences. Bit of fun, suprisingly lot of work and troubles – as we need to keep birds, spiders, plants and herbivores separated and present in various settings. And also alive throughout the experiment. Spiders tend to eat each other, birds kill each other … or the birds eat plants? We will see whether we will sustain the system running for at least a month.
Aviary being protected from access of herbivore insect, while birds are inside, and plants inside of the cages in the aviary …. ehm Starling(s) many of them as a side catch which we do not need Raspberry – first experimental plant Urtica being numbered – second experimental plant species Plants protected from birds Handfuls of starlings and insectivores nowhere Final settings with some great tits and a blackbird
