David’s and Elise’s preprints of last week

David’s experiment from last year focusing on the effect of antibiotics and probiotics in chicks of wild birds: Gut microbiome disturbances of altricial Blue and Great tit nestlings are countered by continuous microbial inoculations from parental microbiomes

We found that nest environment had stronger effect than any of the treatments. Microbial communities of chicks drifted to each other over the time and resembled the microbiome of female adults.

Elise’s work analyses community structure of bats alond Mt Wilhelm elevational gradient. Generally showing that bats undergo recent elevational shifts in distribution, or the historical data are poor. – Species richness and community structure of bats along a forest elevational transect in Papua New Guinea
