At the beginning of the December, as it is typical for winter months, our students managed to get out some preprints and papers, as well as collect some awards.
Congratulations go to Sam Finnie for finalizing the submission to and preprint:

to Heveakore Maraia for co-authoring a paper provisionally accepted to Nature Communication and resubmission of the paper about insect herbivory in South Africa.
to Xue Xiao for resubmission of minor changes in her manuscript about effect of drought.
to Sofía Medellín Becerra for successful submission of her Master thesis entitled: Dawn chorus succession in a lowland rainforest of Papua New Guinea.
Also the younger students were very active last week. Frantisek X. Purkrabek and Vojtech Janda presented their thesis plans for the first time at the faculty seminar. While Yogita Karpate reported well on her Student grant which she received last year. Diana Tomandlova then managed to submit her new SGA grant with potential beginning of funding in 2024.
At last, but definitely not least, Elise Sivault was evaluated for significant progress on her thesis, for she received a small award from the faculty committee. With all these successes of our students, it was very easy to forget we did not receive any GACR funding this year.
